McDOWELL COUNTY ORAL HISTORY PROJECT

The McDowell County Oral History Project took root in early 2009 when Carol Price, Executive Director of the McDowell County Tourism Development Authority applied for a grant from the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area. Carol was seeking a vehicle that would preserve the heritage of McDowell County and which could also be used as a marketing tool.  The end result; the multi-media feast of audio, photos, video and more, that took Ellen and Kim six months to compile, stands as a monument to the tide of time and memory.

We were pleased to be featured in the Blue National Heritage Area’s newsletter:

As you look at strategic planning and the potential of new partnerships, I would suggest that the BRNHA might consider Eljapa Media for a potential partnership. Ellen Pfirrman and Kim Clark are very talented and creative and have done some wonderful work for McDowell TDA including video for the launch of their heritage plan, commercials, video for their website and now this oral history project. I believe too that Carol would recommend them highly for their expertise and professionalism“.

Thanks, Frankie L. McWhorter, Tourism Development Officer – Piedmont North Carolina Division of Tourism, Film, and Sports Development
